The mission of the Business & Education Partnership (BEP) is to facilitate improved career choice by involving business, students, and educators in increased career awareness, hands-on work experience and mutually beneficial skill development. Representatives from DASD, WCASD, Collegium Charter School and Member businesses meet monthly to collaborate to provide resources that meet the needs of students in the region. They meet in the Chamber office at 8:00 am on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Take a virtual tour of the program. The ten minute video was created by a 10th grade DASD student.
GETIN! provides students with internship opportunities so they can explore future career choices and gain hands-on business experience. BEP members are also invited to GETIN! to the classroom to assist teachers with presentations to share their experiences in the business world.
GETOUT! provides teachers with the opportunity to visit businesses and learn how to better connect the working world and the classroom, as well as provide relevant learning experiences for students. The following member businesses have graciously opened their doors and/or supported the teachers and counselors of the district through GETOUT! bus trips: Bentley Systems, Coldwell-Banker Preferred, Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, Hankin Group, Keystone Federal Credit Union, Lionfield Technology Solutions, Quantics Inc., Universal Technical Institute, and USSC Group.
GETREAL! creates a real business environment for students where a business is created and run through the students in the classroom. Students form a business plan, elect officers, and develop and sell their own products and services. Net proceeds are donated to a charity of the “company’s” choice. Cougar Corp at East Campus and Whippet Nation at West Campus have had great success with the GETREAL! program. Charities that have benefited include the Chester County Food Bank, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Pediatric Cancer Research, Brain Cancer Research, and Best Buddies. BEP members serve as mentors to the students throughout the year.
